The Studio Art Program strongly recommends that a student complete this degree before transferring to a 4-year college or university studio art program. Some specialty visual arts colleges such as Kansas City Art Institute, Savannah College of Art and Design, etc., might require freshman or sophomore coursework specific to specialized programs at their schools. This associates degree is intended for studio art majors. Students interested in an in Art History major will require additional art history and language courses. The requirements below must be completed in addition to the Field of Study Curriculum degree requirements in order to complete all program requirements for this specialization.
The Studio Art program falls under HCC’s institutional Art + Design accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). NASAD is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the agency responsible for the accreditation of all art and design curricula.
