Mexican‐American/Latinx Studies - Specialization, I.C.


The Mexican American/Latinx Studies Institutional Certificate is an option of focus within the Interdisciplinary Studies, A.A.  degree, or can be earned in conjunction with some A.A. degrees outside of Interdisciplinary Studies (contact the Humanities Program for more information).

The specialization in Mexican-American Studies is designed to help students understand Mexican American/Latinx culture from a range of disciplines and perspectives. Students earning this Instutituional Certificate will build a unique foundation for various majors and careers, including elementary education, social and behavioral sciences, health sciences, law, business, public policy, and many others. The Mexican American/Latinx Studies certificate enhances students’ familiarity and understanding of diverse cultures in preparation for employment in an increasingly multi-cultural region. 

Students may earn one Associate of Arts in one of the specializations. The requirements below must be completed in addition to  the Interdisciplinary Degree requirements in order to complete all program requirements for this specialization.
